THE MOST EXCITING QUARTER MILE IN RACING!
Held every Presidents Day weekend (February 18-19, 2012), the Donald E. Erickson Memorial Chariot Races are among the most exciting events in Saratoga. This 31st annual event is sponsored by the Saratoga Lions Club and the Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce.
The races feature two-horse teams pulling chariots at top speed down a quarter-mile track. Teams come all over the state of Wyoming and from Colorado. Add to the excitement with Calcutta betting before each race. Concessions are provided by the local Boy Scout troops.
Dinner and Calcutta at the Platte Valley Community Center on Saturday night, beginning at 6 pm. Tickets are $30 in advance and are available at the Chamber office (307-326-8855). Tickets are also available at the door for $35.
Races are held at Buck Springs Rodeo Arena. Post time is 1 pm on Saturday and 11 am on Sunday. Daily admission is: adults $5 each, children under 12 are free.
Buck Springs Rodeo Arena: Drive east on Bridge Street and over the river. Turn right on SE River street immediately after the bridge. Follow that road out of town about one mile. Take a left on County Road 205 and head north. Drive another couple of miles (over three cattle guards) and turn right at the Buck Springs sign.
