What does science, live surgery, and a cadaver lab have to do with the Saratoga Resort?
Our local high school students took a 2nd annual trip to SERI (Spine Educatoin & Research Institute) in Denver, CO on Monday, March 26th and Tuesday, March 27th.
On Monday, the students started out watching a live surgery and being able to ask the surgeon questions.
Following the surgery, a nurse showed the students proper suture techniques, as the students later practiced said sutures on pigs feet. The students finished their first day with tacos
and bowling.
Tuesday was full of hours in the cadaver lab, and WOW, what an experience that was! If a student is interested in the medical field, this was the place to decide whether or not this is the field you wanted to study. It was hands on and very educational, with SERI interns leading the way. This opportunity given to our local students was more than they expected, and something they’ll never forget.
Now, what does this have to do with the Resort? Well, we have scheduled the Summer Science Camp again this year, to be held at the Resort July 16th-18th. Please visit our Calendar of Events for more information and to register.
The SERI staff did such a great job at this event, we have no doubt that our Summer Science Camp will be a wonderful summer project for us to host again this year!
