As the golf season is fast approaching, I am already working with the juniors in our area to prepare them for the golf spring season and to begin the process of developing our new Saratoga High School Golf Team.
The first effort was the new Golf in Schools program developed by the Colorado Section of the PGA. Golf in Schools is a three day process where all the kids in each school in our district are taught the proper technique of hitting a golf ball. The final day of this program will be on May 11th with Hanna Elementary, Medicine Bow Elementary, and Elk Mountain Elementary.
We will have our Annual Junior Golf Camp sponsored by the Saratoga Lions Club during the weeks of June 11th, June 18th, and June 25th. Only this year is going to be more than golf. It will be our introduction of the PGA Sports Academy which will include golf but also many other activities such as relay races, football and baseball throwing, tug a war and a lot more.
A new junior league will meet every Tuesday afternoon at 3PM starting July 5th and run through August 8th.
The Saratoga High School Golf team will begin spring practice on Thursday, April 5th and run through Friday, May 18th where we will be hosting a tournament at Old Baldy Club. The team has also been invited to play a tournament at Rochelle Ranch on Saturday, April 28th. The fall season begins August 13th with tournaments every weekend after that culminating in the State Championships September 22nd and 23nd.
So if your kids are interested in playing golf now is the time! Call the golf shop for details on the camp, league, and any other questions you may have.
