If snowmobiling is a little too much adventure for you, cross country skiing or snowshoeing is probably more your pace. Not only is it great exercise during the winter months, but it can be very peaceful and a great way to clear your head. If you’re looking for a fun activity for the kids, nothing beats sledding! Our cross country ski and snowshoe rentals are available for the whole day. We have kid’s snowshoes available and snow sleds for the day.
Where is the best place to go?
In the Snowy Range we recommend trying out the Brush Creek Trails, approximately 20 miles from Saratoga. These trails are good for beginners or intermediate folks. Also, on the Snowy Range side is a great sledding hill. Located between the Brush Creek Trails and Ryan Park, on the right-hand side of WY130.
On the Sierra Madre side you’ll find the Bottle Creek Trail system. The Bottle Creek Trails are approximately 24 miles from Saratoga (6 miles south of Encampment). These trails are also good for the beginner or intermediate skier or snowshoer.
Before you head out, make sure you have plenty of water. You can also order a sack lunch (including a sandwich, chips, fruit, cookie and bottle of water) from the Silver Saddle Restaurant to take along on your adventure.
